Please follow
the
step-by-step
instructions
below to
configure the
Netscape
Navigator
3.0x or
2.0x e-mail
client to check
your
Chesapeake.Net
e-mail account. Note that these instructions are specific to
Netscape Navigator 3.04
, but the
settings are very
similar to those
found in
older versions of
Navigator 3.0x
and 2.0x.
- Select
Options
, and then
Mail and News Preferences...
, from the Netscape Navigator Menu
Bar as shown in the illustration below.
- Click the
Server
tab and fill in the information as illustrated below.
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server
,
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server
,
POP3
User Name
, and
News (NNTP) Server
fields as shown below. All other fields on this
screen can be set according to your personal preferences.
-
You should also avoid setting Netscape Navigator to
Left on server
under
Messages
are copied from the server to the local disk, then
option unless you will be checking your
account from multiple workstations - in which case at least one of the workstations
from which you check your mail should not be set to
Left on server
.
-
We recommend leaving the
Mail Directory
and
News RC Directory
to their defaults, but
you can specify an alternate location for each if so desired.
-
Click on the
Identity
tab and enter your e-mail address in the
Your Email
field as shown below.
-
You may enter anything you wish into the
Your Name
field, though your full name is
recommended. This name identifies the name of the person sending email using Netscape
Mail, and will appear in the From field of any email sent from this program.
-
The settings in all other sections of Netscape Navigator Mail and News preferences may be set
to your personal preferences. If you are not sure what a particular setting does, refer to the
Netscape Navigator online help for guidance and information.
