following information describes upcoming
or ongoing system upgrades along with any
scheduled or unscheduled downtimes. All
scheduled downtimes will be carried out
in off-peak hours when possible to reduce
the impact on our customers.

Mail server emergency maintenance has been completed
April 29, 9:30AM -
Mail server monitoring revealed a mail
delivery issue requiring an emergency
software update. Emergency maintenance
should be completed within the hour

Mail server maintenance has been
completed - server will be monitored
closely to make sure queued mail is
delivered
April 26, 7:30AM - Extended Email Outage

hours than previously expected. We hope
to have email restored by noon

back until 8PM instead of 4PM to minimize
the impact on our customers (residential

Please plan accordingly and be advised

there will be a planned interruption to Chesapeake.Net's email service
on April 25, 2008
, between the hours of 4PM and 12 AM
.
We are moving our email
server to a new facility in order to
improve our service. We apologize for the
obvious inconvienience of the timing of
the operation and will make every attempt
to push it back a few hours. Customers
will not be able to send or receive email
during the maintenance period but
incoming email will be queued and
delivered to your mailbox after the
operation is completed. no incoming
mail will be lost.
Also, this
operation only affects email. Your
internet connection will remain available
so that if you have an alternate email
address (gmail, hotmail, yahoo mail, etc)
you will be able to use that.
Oct 17, 2PM, Dial Up Access Issues -
Dialup customeris may be experiencing
issues with our dialup service due to
routing issues within Coretel's network
in Baltimore. Coretel Engineers have been
dispatch and are working to solve the
issue. The problem should be
resolved within several hours.
Aug 20, 1:20PM, DSL Issues Resolved
- DSL authentication issues have been resolved.
Aug 20, 8:30AM, DSL Authentication Failures
- Due to a router failure at our NOC in
Baltimore, DSL customers are unable to
authenticate. Technicians are
working the issue and should have it
corrected within a few hours. DSL
customers who are already logged in will
experience no problems. DSL
customers who are not already logged in,
will be unable to login and use email or
the internet until the issue is resolved
Aug 3, 6PM - Aug 4 5PM, Nameserver outage
- An outage was detected by our
monitoring system on Friday evening which
caused nameservice to go offline.
Because of this, chesapeake.net email and
web pages were unavailable. No mail
was lost during this outage however
access to the email was limited due to
nameserver issues. DSL customers in
some cases were unable to login.
The outage has now been fixed. All
email, access to our website and DSL
authentication is now functioning
normally.

to a server failure that is causing 691
error codes (authentication .
Technicians are addressing the issue and
the server should be allowing
authentications shortly.
Jan 12, 2007, Server Outage - 1:30PM
- One of our servers is down for
unscheduled emergency maintenance.
This will affect personal websites and a
small subset of our business users email
until the problem is corrected.
Dec 11, 2006, Planned Outage
- Web server and mail server upgrades
will be taking place between 6PM - 10PM
tonight on our business/school email
server and business/school web
server. During that time, mabout
half of our business/school customers
will be unable to send or receive mail
and their website will be down.
Only businesses/schools will be
affected. residential customer will
be unaffected by this downtime.
Dec 6, 2006, Email is back
- Bad memory chips have been replaced on
the mail server. We believe this to
be the root cause for the issue that has
been affecting our mail server for the
past few days

- Due to replacement of bad memory cards
on the mail server, customers will
temporarily not be able to access their
email via the webmail facility.
Nov 28, 2006, 10AM - Email service upgrade
- Our Upstream Email provider is
currently investigating an issue that is
preventing outgoing email from being
delivered. Incoming mail is working
but customers that need to send email may
have to use a backup email account such
as gmail (
www.gmail.com
) or hotmail (
www.hotmail.com
) until the server has been repaired.
Oct 3, 2006, 12PM - Email service upgrade
- Our Upstream Email proivider will be
conductiing server upgrades between 12PM
and 3PM EST. No mail will be lost but no
new mail wll be received between the
scheduled hours.
Sep 20, 2006, 9AM - Email service Restored
- Email service has been restored.
While the server was down, incoming mail
was queued and will be gradually be
delivered throughout the next few hours
to avoid potential server overload.
Customers may notice that email sent
overnight or very early this morning
arriving several hours late due to the
dequeueing process.
Sep 20, 2006, 7AM - Email service unavailable
- Due to a problem with the mail server,
customers will experience problems
retrieving @chesapeake.net email.
Technicians are working on the problem
and should have it corrected shortly.
June 7, 2006 - Email maintenance complete
- The power outage has been
corrected. Mail servidce has
returned
June 7, 2006 - Email maintenance -
It has been determined that the cause for
our mail server failure is a major power
outage in New Jersey. There is
currently no ETA for when this will be
corrected but power company engineers
have been dispatched.
Chesapeake.Net customers
using our email service will receive an error when checking mail: "The connection to the server has failed". We are aware of the issue and working to correct. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
May 23, 2006 - Accelerator is back online
- We have changed how the
dialup accelerator authenticates.
Users must now use their 'dialup'
usernames and passwords to use the
accelerator. Make sure you include
the @chesapeake.net in your username or
the accelerator will not authenicate
properly.
May 17, 2006 - Email Issue (10:30AM)
- Customers may experience
difficulties sending email due to a
malfunction in our outgoing virus
scanner. Engineers are working on
the issue and hope to have it corrected
within the hour.
May 9, 2006 - DSL Upgrades Complete
- SMI Engineers helped
identify and correct problems in the DSL
network last night that should correct
problems of intermittent connectivity
that some DSL users were
experiencing. The network will
continue to be monitored.
May 8, 2006 - Verizon Network Upgrades Underway
- SMI Engineers helped
identify capacity issues within Verizons
DSL Network and opened a trouble ticket
to have Verizon address the issue.
SMI engineers are in daily contact with
Verizon concerning this failure of
Verizons nwtwork. The capacity
issue is affecting some Calvert County
DSL customers with intermittent
connectivity to the internet. The issue
manifests during peak load periods and
has been traced to a Verizon-controlled
router in Verizon's Glen Burnie, MD
Central Office. Affected users are any
DSL customer on Verizons DSL
Network. This includes Verizon
Online (VOL) DSL Customers, Earthlink DSL
Customers, Chesapeake.Net DSL Customers
and AOL DSL Customers. Updates to
this Ticket will be posted here.
May 4, 2006 - DSL Upgrades scheduled by Verizon
- Some DSL customers have
been experiencing intermittent service
due to a misconfigured router within
Verizon's DSL network. Verizon has
scheduled engineers to reconfigure the
router tonight which should resolve the
issue. SMI Engineers will monitor the
progress of this action

- The new target date for
the replacement of the accelerator is
June 1, 2006. We apologize for any

Mar 31, 2006 - Hosted websites and Email temporarily unavailable
- Due to a line down at our
new web hosting facility several domains
and associated emails are currently
unavailable. If you have a domain
name oither than chesapeake.net and you
cannot get to your website or retrieve
email, the problem should be resolved
shortly.
Mar 10, 2006 - Internet Accelerator (Slipstream) Down

Feb 11, 2006 - Internet Accelerator (Slipstream) Down
- This only affects
dialup
customers who are using the accelerator (Chesapeake HiSpeed). Due to a hardware failure, the Chesapeake HiSpeed Internet Accelerator is no longer functioning. Until the accelerator is repaired, users will be unable to use it and should disable it by clicking on the accelerator icon in the lower right corner of their screen and selecting "disable hispeed". ETA is 10-15 days for parts to arrive and repairs to be made. We apologize for any inconvienience this may cause.
